LEGITIMATE INTEREST REPRESENTATION AND RESPONSIBLE LOBBYING: how to do it effectively in Western Balkans? - Belgrade, 11-14 September 2018

The European Center for Peace and Development of the University for Peace established by the United Nations has the honour to inform you about the establishment of the standing Program on Legitimate interest Representation and Lobbying (LIR). The function of the Program will be to provide high quality training for diplomats, trade representatives, politicians, senior public servants and NGO representatives in the fields of interest representation and lobbying.

The first course entitled

LEGITIMATE INTEREST REPRESENTATION AND RESPONSIBLE LOBBYING

how to do it effectively in Western Balkans?

will be organised from 11 to 14 September 2018 in Belgrade.

The new course offers a unique training experience, combined with individual consultations with top international experts. It will broaden participants’ understanding and competencies, as well as upgrade their practical skills for successful interest representation and lobbying in the region. Refined skills for legitimate lobbying do help diplomats, trade representatives and others to achieve best results in carrying out their responsible function in the regional multicultural international environment – through better understanding of the mentalities, as well as characteristics of the respective socio-political systems.

The detailed Program and composition of the LIR Program’s International Faculty are presented in the attachment. You can also access the online registration form at the end of this email.

This highly innovative Course (including 3-weeks pre-Course preparations, intensive coaching/mentoring during the Course, and individual consultations over 3 months after the Course) provides a guarantee for rewarding impact of efforts invested by participants and Course Faculty. Also, ECPD can help particularly the newcomers in the region through its vast network among VIPs in various domains. Also, with successful completion of the Course participants will receive aninternationally valid certificate issued by ECPD and recognised in all UN member states.

Carefully selected study and reference material for Course participants will include: an extensive annotated international bibliography, summaries of all scheduled lectures, about 300 didactically designed Power Point slides, and a specially prepared lobbying handbook.

In order to enable maximum learning outcome, each participant will be invited to undertake a self-evaluation test, prepare a short case study, and use intensive expert coaching to fully develop it during the training cycle. As a result, participants will end up with a lobbying strategy paper on their selected case (consultants would charge for it at last 5 times the Course fee), plus participants will have developed the relevant skills to implement the elaborated strategy successfully.

For optimal training results it was necessary to limit the number of participants to 25, and the closing date for registration is June 30, 2018. Registrants above 25 will be invited to join the next course, expected to be organized later in the year.

The participation fee is 1,250 €. The fee is to be paid upon the invoice received from ECPD by June 30, 2018.
